This plantation drive will not only benefit the environment but also help the local people earn their food and livelihood by consuming or selling the fruits of these plants. Out of the 1,000 trees planted, 600 of them are species of indigenous forest trees, while 400 are grafted fruit trees which are seasonal and cyclic in nature such as Mango, Guava, Chickoo, Jackfruit and Jamun. The trees, of height ranging six to eight feet, were tagged with a barcode to keep track of their growth and also ensure regular upkeep by the local communities.
